What is Available as far as Colors for Vinyl Fencing?

back to Learning Hub Home

Before buying colored vinyl it is important to check with the manufacturer closely including the warranty. Many warranties do not cover color fading.

White and Tan are the main colors of vinyl. The reason for that is those colors have a long history of holding their color without significant fading. Through the years many manufacturers have tried various colors and methods of extrusions to make other colors. Most have struggled with other colors and problems of fading. The last few years “acrylic caps” have enabled extruders to bring many more colors to the market.

There are now “wood grain” looking materials that have a variation appearance in colors. These colors and style are usually about 20 – 30% for material costs.

When doing colored vinyl, there are fewer options as far as accessories such as caps and fence styles. Most are just available in solid privacy fencing. If you buy a colored fence it is probably a good idea to buy extra material in case you ever have any repairs that need to be done.

Another look is an “imprinted” vinyl that has a rough texture like wood. Once again, be sure if you buy a material make sure that the accessories that you want are available in the color and style because they are limited.
