Moisture and sun are the worst enemies of most traditional building materials. Wood will rot out, split, warp, twist and eventually, bugs get most wood. Metal such as iron or steel rusts out and requires a lot of painting to keep it looking shiny and new.

We don’t fully know how long vinyl will last. Vinyl has been used for windows for much longer then fencing and structures. Vinyl fencing itself has now been used for nearly 30 years.

Most vinyl fence extruders offer a Limited Lifetime warranty on all of their products for residential applications. That’s better then wood which has a warranty that expires as the contractor pulls out of the driveway! The only guarantee with wood is that it will shrink, curl, split, and have knot holes,

Commercial application warranties usually cover between 20 and 30 years.

To maintain the look of your vinyl fence, just put a swimming suit on once a year and go spray and wipe it down. You really don’t have to do that, but some people do.

Which material is more durable wood or vinyl? Some people when they first feel vinyl and they can squeeze it a bit they have the misconception that it isn’t a strong as wood. However, in most cases that is wrong. If you take a piece of wood and a piece of vinyl of equal sizes like for a picket fence or something. Then lean each piece against a wall, the wood piece you can snap with your foot very easily. Not so with the vinyl! Vinyl is inherently stronger because the material has a little give (elastic properties) that allow it to give a little instead of snapping in two.

Your investment in a vinyl fence will save you lots of time and money through the years and it will continue to look like the day you installed it
